Subhra likes to visualize emotion in his work, and weave a story with shapes, lines, and colors. He looks for the unexpected in the mundane, the interplay of light and shadow in form. Capturing the emotive moment inspires him.
He grew up in Kolkata, India, among a myriad of colors, rhythms and verses and was deeply influenced by both eastern as well as western art and literature in his formative years. He pursued engineering in his undergrad and majored in Aerospace Engineering.After immigrating to the United States he completed his graduate studies in Computer Science and Mathematics and pursued further studies in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
He has won dozens of photographic awards – including gold and silver medals – and has exhibited internationally. He has been published multiple times in the USA and abroad. He also loves to write and have workshopped with local writing groups. Some of his short stories and poetry have been published.
Subhra believes that the purpose of all visual art is to evoke an emotional response from the viewer, and that creative photography is no exception. His art is intentional and his familiarity with the written word allows him to fuse multiple disciplines into his work to give rise to a unique perspective, to capture images visually in a timeless way.
